Stomal Therapy

The service is tailored to an individual person’s needs and is provided by the surgery’s Stomal Therapy Nurse who has also had extensive colorectal surgical nursing experience. Our Stomal Therapy Nurse, Amanda Summers provides pre and post-operative care to patients that experience stomal surgery, reviews patients that experience any concerns with their stoma and also provides wound reviews and wound management.

Amanda completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of South Australia in 2009. She commenced her nursing career at Calvary Wakefield Hospital. Amanda's Graduate Year saw her work across the hospital providing a strong learning growth in many nursing fields until she found a special interest in colorectal nursing. Whilst working on the surgical ward in 2012, she completed her Stomal Therapy Nursing Certificate and has continued to work in Stomal Therapy ever since.

The consultations will provide education, support and assistance to patients who have or will be undergoing stomal surgery or who require ongoing stoma support.
